Abstract
Objective To observe the accuracy of ProPex electronic apex locator in measuring C-shaped root canal working length.Methods 78 C-shaped root canal working lengths(WL) of 24 mandibular second molars were measured by ProPex electronic apex locator in vivo.After extraction of the teeth,actual canal lengths(AL) were determined.The distance between AL and ML was recorded.Results The accuracy of ProPex was 85.90% within 0.5 mm short of the AL,91.03% within 1.0 mm short of the AL and 94.87% within 1.5 mm short of the AL.Conclusions The results of this study indicate that ProPex is reliable in measuring C-shaped root canal working lengths.
