Abstract
Objective To analyze the clinical effects of treating high myopia with complicated cataract with small-incision extracapsular cataract extraction with intraocular lens implantation. Methods 48 cases of high myopia with complicated cataract were treated by small-incision extracapsular cataract extraction with intraocular lens implantation from June,2006 to June,2007.Complication during and after operations and postoperative visual acuity was analyzed retrospectively. Results All patients received small-incision extracapsular cataract extraction with intraocular lens implantation.Ruptures of posterior capsular were observed in two cases.3 months after the operation,6 eyes had visual acuity from 0.1 to 0.3,30 eyes from 0.3 to 0.8,12 eyes better than 0.8.No other complications occurred during and after operations. Conclusions There are few complications during and after operation for high myopia with complicated cataract treated by small-incision extracapsular cataract extraction with intraocular lens implantation.Patients had good postoperative visual acuity. This operation does not need expensive equipments and is suit for primary hospitals.
