Abstract

OBJECTIVE To discuss clinical curative effect of small incision extracapsular cataract extraction and intraocular lens implantation for the treatment of hard nucleus cataract. METHODS The 56 subjects were diagnosed with hard nucleus cataract in our hospital from August 2009 August 2010, in which 38 cases of small incision extracapsular cataract extraction and intraocular lens implantation, phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation in 18 cases, a comparative analysis about operation effect and complications between two groups was conducted. RESULTS 3 days, 3 weeks, 3 months after surgery, visual acuity in small incision extracapsular cataract extraction and intraocular lens implantation group were significantly improved before operation (P﹤0.05), and the degree of improvement was better than that of phacoemulsification and IOL implantation group (P﹤0.05). In two groups of patients, corneal edema rate had significant differences (P﹤0.05). CONCLUSION Small incision extracapsular cataract extraction and intraocular lens implantation is with definite curative effect, easy operation, safe and reliable, worthy of clinical application.
