Abstract

Aim To investigate the role of interleukin-6(IL-6)interleukin-8(IL-8)and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)in patients with acute cerebral infarction, and its clinical significance. Methods The concentration of serum IL-6、IL-8 and TNF-α were measured by radioimmunoassay in 46 patients with acute cerebral infarction, and the results were compared with those in 34 healthy contro1. Results The serum IL-6、IL-8 and TNF-α levels in patients were significantly higher in acute patients with cerebral infarction than that of control group(P0.01). then serum of IL-6、IL-8 and TNF-α decreased .but they were still higher than norma1(P0.01).The serum IL-6、IL-8 and TNF-α levels in patients were significantly low in convalescent patients with cerebral infarction than that of acute patients with cerebral infarction (P 0.05). Conclusion There are some inflammatory and immunological response mediated by IL-6、IL-8 and TNF-α in the pathogenesis of cerebral infarction. The determination of serum IL-6、IL-8 and TNF-α levels could be prognostic to the development and treatment of cerebral infarction.
