Abstract
A sudden strong rainstorm attacked Taole County Ningxia on the afternoon of July 2,2006.The precipitation of 1h 10min was the most in Ningxia in recent 44 years. The conventional meteorological information,MM5 forecasting model products,Doppler radar information and satellite cloud picture were applied to analyze the weather circulation background, effects system and the development of medium and small scale systems. The results showed :The sudden rainstorm was with a clear system of small and medium scale. The main impact of a ground-based system were loop hot,500hPa and 700hPa Lanzhou and Yinchuan warm whirlpool of low ground.
