Abstract

A new viral disease of goose was reported by Wang Yongkun etc. This disease showed high morbidity and mortality, the average rates of which were 27.7% and 18.2% respectively, and the baby goose within 10 days old couldn't avoid absolutely. In order to control this disease,a virus strain was isolated from brains of dead geese, which were not immunized in the embryo stage. This virus strain could agglomerate chicken erythrocytes, and this agglutination could be inhibited by Newcastle disease virus antiserum. The recurrent infection,MDT,CIPI,IVPI and the other biological property tests indicated that this virus strain belonged to a mesogenic virus strain of Geese PMV-Ⅰ.
