Abstract

The alkylation of benzene with ethylene in dry gas over modified β zeolite catalyst by catalytic distillation has been studied. After the influence of technological parameters on the alkylation was investigated, the appropriate operating conditions were proposed as follows:catalyst packing fraction 20%,ethylene WHSV 0 287 h -1 ,feed molar ratio of benzene to ethylene ≥2 5,pressure ≥2 0 MPa,temperature 140~180 ℃,ethylene molar fraction in dry gas≥12%.Under these conditions, the conversion of ethylene is over 95%,the selectivity of ethylbenzene is over 95% and there is almost no dimethylbenzene produced during the alkylation.
