Abstract
Objective To study the composition and distribution of the host animals of plague in Guangzhou city.Method Rodents were captured by cages and identified down to species.Flea was counted and antibody of plague F1 was detected by IHA.Result 1797 rodents, including 1707 rattus and 90 Insectivora, were caught, which were belonged to 6 species,4 genera, and 2 families.Total densities of rodents and density of rattus were 10.80% and 10.26%,respectively.265 fleas were caught and belonged to Xenopsylla cheopis from 61 rattus among 171 rodents. The total flea index was 1.55.No F1 antibody of plague was detected. Conclusion The major rodent species and the dominant species with fleas in Guangzhou city were Rattus norvegicus and Xenopsylla cheopis, respectively. No plague was found, but we should pay attention to the high flea index of Xenopsylla cheopis.
