Historiography during the early Ming Dynasty is plain and dull and this situation is inseparable from Zhu Yuan-zhang's extreme autocracy.In the political atmosphere of that time,the scholar-bureaucrats lived under extremely bad conditions,let alone historiography activities.The characteristics of historiography of the early Ming Dynasty are closely connected with the rulers' political understanding and activities,which focused on official historiography.
