A Survey of the Historiography of Qing Dynasty and its Causes

The Historiography of Qing Dynasty is involved not only in the summary period of the theories and methods of traditional Chinese historiography,but also in the transmission from traditional historiography to modern historiography.The study of the historiography of this period is beneficial to strengthen our research on traditional historiography.The development of the historiography of Qing dynasty mainly contains the following stages: primarily the accounts of private history in Ming and Qing dynasties,the development of statecraft ideology,the perfection of historiographers system,the rise and prosperity of historical textual research,the summary of ancient historiography theories,and finally the research methods in modern historiography.In Qing dynasty,the last imperial dynasty in China,the thought and research method of historiography developed with the change of society,politics and economy and upon such influences,every aspect in the development of historiography displayed its own characteristics.The analysis of the causes to the development of historiography of Qing dynasty should start with a thorough understanding of all these information.
