Abstract
Objective To study the role of brain derived neurotrophic factor(BDNF) in the pathogenesis of temporal lobe epilepsy(TLE) in children. Methods Immunohistochemistry was used to test the expression of BDNF in the hippocampi tissues from 16 children with temporal lobe epilepsy from March 2012 to March 2013,and the results were compared with those from 8 children without epilepsy from September 2011 to March 2013.Results were analysised by the Ridit test. Results Under the microscope,Ridit test analysis showed: Hc = 9.2472,P 0.01.Expression of BDNF protein were significantly inscresed in the hippocampi tissues resected from patiens with TLE compared with that of contrasts. Conclusion The result indicate the expression of BDNF protein increased in hippocampus of brain tissue in patients with TLE.BDNF may play an important role in the development of temporal lobe epilepsy.
