Abstract

Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of acupuncture on postherpetic neuralgia. Methods 64 patients with postherpetic neuralgia were randomly divided into two groups. 32 patients in treatment group were treated by acupuncture;32 patients in control group were treated by routine western medicine, with a treatment course of one month for both groups. The therapeutic effects were observed after one treatment course. Results The total effective rate in treatment group was 96.90%,which was 81.30% in control group. There was a significant difference between two groups  (P0.01) . Conclusion The acupuncture therapy is effective in treating postherpetic neuralgia.
