Abstract

It was reported that the synthesis of isopropyl chloroacetate catalyzed by p toluenesulfonic acid(PTSA) supported on activated carbon under microwave irradiation. When the power of microwave irradiation is 160?w, amount of catalyst is 2.0?g, reaction time is 45?min, yield and purity of the product are 78.3% and 99.8% respectively. In addition, it was found that under microwave irradiation, the reaction rate of esterification, and yield of the product is higher than that of conventional heating method.
