Clinical analysis on phacoemulsification in 126 cases with high myopia and cataract

Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of phacoemulsification combined with intraocular lens(IOL) implantation in high myopia patients with cataract.Methods A total of 126 high myopia patients with cataract(186 eyes),whose axial length was more than 26.00 mm,were treated with phacoemulsification through scleral tunnel incision and IOL implantation.All patients were followed up for 5 months to 19 months.Intraoperative and postoperative complications were recorded,changes of postoperative visual acuity and dioptor were observed.Results At postoperative 1 month,naked visual acuity be and more than 0.5 was in 115 eyes(61.83%),and correted visual aciuty be and more than 0.5 was 130 eyes(70.06%).At the following up time,visual acuity was stable,the average diopter was(-1.14±0.87)D at postoperative 3 months.There were 8 eyes with iris injury and 6 eyes with posterior capsule rupture intraoperatively,5 eyes with medium posterior capsule opacification postoperatively,1 eye with rhegmatogenous detachment of retina at postoperative 18 months and cured after padding surgery out of scleral.Conclusion Phacoemulsification and IOL implantation is safe,effective,reliable and can improve visual acuity for high myopia patients with cataract.
