Cultural Context and Listening Comprehension

Listening is an important input and a difficult skill for most learners as well.In the course of improving listening comprehension,one should not only have a good command of linguistic knowledge such as pronunciation,vocabulary and grammar,but also a deep understanding of non-linguistic knowledge such as context and cultural background.It is essential to enhance the learners' foreign cultural knowledge and awareness in the teaching of listening in a foreign language.Cultural context plays an indispensible role and can never be ignored in the interpretation of listening texts.
