Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression and significance of claudin-3 mRNA in prostate carcinoma. Methods The reverse transcriptase PCR was carried out to detect the level of claudin-3 mRNA from 34 prostate carcinoma and 12 benign prostate hyperplasia. The significance was analyzed between such data and related clinical and pathological factors.Higher expression of claudin-3 mRNA was found in prostate carcinoma tissues, compared to that in benign prostate hyperplasia tissues(p0.05).The level of claudin-3 mRNA expression in different pathological types were not significantly correlated to clinical stages of prostate carcinoma(p0.05).Conclusion The higher expression of claudin-3 mRNA may be correlated to the occurrence of prostate carcinoma.
