Abstract

Object: To study the correlation between the pathological significance and prognosis of the proliferation of colorectal carcinoma. Methods: In order to investigate the difference of the PCNA expression in cancer cells with different clinical pathological factors and its significance, 88 cut off specimen from colon surgical operation were used for routine pathological examination and immunohistochemical detection of PCNA, and the analysis of prognosis dependability was also performed. Results: PCNA was expressed in normal cells at basal layer of the intestinal mucosa and it was in polar contribution. While in cancer cellsion, it had a widespread expression pattern with a heteroid distribution. The expression intensity in cancer cells was significantly higher than that in normal cells. The expression of PCNA in colon cancer cells have predominant correlation with cell differentiation, Duck staging and lymphatic metastasis(P0.05). The five year survival rate of the patients with strong expression of PCNA was much lower than that of the weak expression groups(P0.05).Conclusion: In pathological diagnosis of the colon cancer, the combining use of the immunohistochemical investigation of PCNA may have some value in progression of the disease and evaluation of the prognosis.
