Abstract

Objective: To observe the clinical effect of acupuncture plus indirect moxibustion on the treatment of headache patients with qi and blood deficiency. Methods: 72 patients were randomized into a comprehensive group and an acupuncture group,36 per group. Both groups were given the treatment at GB20,RN12,RN6,ST36,BL20 main points. The comprehensive group was treated by acupuncture plus indirect moxibustion while the acupuncture group was treated by acupuncture. The two groups received a total treatment of 3 courses. Their clinical effect was observed and their VAS pain was scored. Results: The total effective rate was 94. 4% in the comprehensive group versus 86. % in the acupuncture group. The effectiveness of the comprehensive group was superior to that of the acupuncture group( P 0. 05). At the same time, the acupuncture plus indirect moxibustion treatment could eliminate or alleviate headache, reduce seizure duration and lower frequency of headache attack. Conclusion: The acupuncture plus indirect moxibustion is a better method in the treatment of the headache patient with qi and blood deficiency, worthy of clinical application.
