Abstract

Objective To observe the effects of intensive insulin therapy in newly diagnosed type 2 diabetic patients. Methods The 38 patients were treated by continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion (CS11) with insulin pump.Fasting plasma glucose (FPG), 2-hour postprandial glucose (2hPG),glycosylated hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c),insulin and C-peptide were measured. HOMA-( and HOMA-1R were calculated. Results After 3 weeks of intensive treatment the excellent control of FPG and 2hPG in all the patients were achieved, the level of C-peptide was significantly higher than that before treatment (P0.05). HOMA-1R were decreased and HOMA-P were increased significantly (P0.05).Conclusion The excellent glycomic control and improvement of p cell function can be induced by short-term CS II intensive therapy in newly diagnosed type 2 diabetic palients. Some of patients can acquire longer improvement.
