Comparative study of Aripiprazole in the treatment of schizophrenia

Abstract

Objective: To compare the efficacy and safety between Aripiprazole and Clozapine.Methods:Thirty schizophrenic patients were measured with the positive and negative symptoms scale(PANSS).The adverse drug reaction was determined by the treatment emergent symptom scale(TESS).Results: The efficacy rate of Aripiprazole was 93.33%,in which 86.67% were improved markedly.The efficacy rate of Clozapine was 90.00%,in which 83.33% were improved markedly.The PANSS scores in both groups decreased significantly after treatment;there was no significant difference in efficacy between two groups.Aripiprazole had fewer side effects than Clozapine.Conclusions: Aripiprazole is an effective drug for schizophrenia,with few side effects.
