Abstract

Objective: To establish a method for determining the total berberine hydrochloride content of Cortex Phellodendri Chinensis in Jinying capsules by high- performance liquid chromatography( HPLC). Methods: HPLC was performed on a Hypersil BDS- C18column( 250 mm × 4. 6 mm,5 μm) with a mobile phase of 0. 05 mol / L monopotassium phosphate- acetonitrile( 78∶ 22) at a detection wavelength of 346 nm and a flow rate of 1. 0 ml / min. The number of theoretical plates would be not less than 3500,as calculated by berberine hydrochloride. Results: The content of Cortex Phellodendri Chinensis in each Jinying capsule,as calculated by berberine hydrochloride, would be not less than 1. 0 mg. Conclusion: The HPLC method has the advantages of easy operation and good repeatability and is suitable for the quality control of Jinying capsules.
