Abstract
Objective:To determine the relationship between serum placenta growth factor(PLGF) and the risk of preeclampsia.Methods:During 2005/3~2006/11,clinical records of 200 pregnant women were collected and reviewed.From 10~14 weeks of gestation till delivery,their peripheral blood specimens were obtained at intervals.The PLGF levels were measured with ELISA and the results were analyzed from individuals with variant severity of preeclampsia at variant time points.Results:Women who were undetectable at measurement but later had preeclampsia also reached the peak at the same time.However,the levels were significantly lower than the controls(P0.05).Five weeks before the onset of preeclampsia,there was already significant evidence of decreases in serum PLGF(P0.01).Conclusion:During the pathological process of preeclampsia,abnormal expression of PLGF is present prior to clinical symptoms,which can be taken as a biomarker for prevention and early diagnosis.
