The Analysis of the Application of Metaphor in College English Vocabulary Teaching

Abstract

Metaphor is a ubiquitous and natural phenomenon in language and also an important means to know the world and language.It is rooted in language thinking and culture.It is a means to concretize Abstract ideas in vocabulary teaching.It accords with the cognitive law to learn words first from metaphor.This can break the bottleneck of traditional vocabulary learning and help the students learn and master vocabulary better.
