Abstract

Objective To establish a reliable model of orthotopic liver transplantation in rats. Methods After some rehearsal,50 procedures of rat orthotopic liver transplantation were performed by using modified Kamada′s two-cuffed technique. Results The 24-hour and 2-week survival rates of the model rats were 90% and 78% respectively. Conclusion Delicate and skillful surgical manipulation, smooth collaboration of the operating team, standardized protocol and some detailed modifications are the key to the success of rat liver transplantation.
