Diagnostic value of myocardial enzyme in myocardial damage of neonatal hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy.

Abstract

Objective To evaluate the diagnostic value of myocardial enzyme determination in myocardial damage of neonatal hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy(HIE).Methods 150 neonetes with HIE were ivided into three groups according to the degree of illness:mild,moderate and severe.Plasma myocardial enzyme determination,including AST,LDH,CK,CK-MB andα-HBDH and electrocardiogram were taken.Control group consisted of 52 normal neonates.Results The activity of AST,LDH,CK and α-HBDH increased with the severity of HIE,especially CK and CK-MB.Myocardial enzyme activity was correlated with the severity of HIE;Myocardial enzyme activity was significantly higher in severe group than in control group(P0.01).ECG was abnormal in 74 neonates(50%) with HIE,of which mild group 13(29%),moderate group 28(50%) and severe group 33(69%).Conclusion Myocardial enzyme activity may help to determine whether there is myocardial damage in HIE and its severity.It is of great value to disease sevirity judgement and prognostic evaluation.
