Abstract
The low bioavailability of heavy metal is a major limiting factor in phytoremediation of heavy metal contaminated soil. Application of chelators to soil is a feasible and effective approach to increase efficiency of phytoremediation. According to principle of applied chelators, this paper mainly introduced effect of chelators on heavy metals desorption in soil , accumulation in plant and translocation from roots to shoots. Environmental risk of chelators application and future developing trends are discussed as well in this paper.
