Abstract

Objective To evaluate the using value of ultrasound in the diagnosis and treatment of carotid artery atherosclerosis.Methods 32 elderly patients with cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease and 32 cases of physical health were detected by carotid artery ultrasound.Results The detection rate of plaque and thickening of IMT in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group(P 0.05 or P 0.01).The patients of observation group were checked out 60 cases of carotid artery plaque,which were mainly in the carotid artery bifurcation and the majority were flat spots and soft spots.Conclusion As an easy-to-repeat noninvasive means of cardiovascular disease detection and surveillance,early effective prevention and treatment,carotid artery ultrasound examination has great clinical significance.
