Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinical characteristic and antimicrobial resistance in patients with urinary tract infected by Escherichia coli. Methods Drug resistances of 156 Escherichia coli strains collected from the urinary tract infection patients from January 2001 to December 2005 were analyzed. And the extended spectrum β-lactamase(ESBLs) were identified by disc agar diffusion method. Results The drug resistance of Escherichia coli isolated from urine to Imipenem,Meropenem,Cefoperazone/Sulbactam,Piperacillin/tazobactam were the least,it were 1.28%,1.92%,3.21% and 5.13% respectively, while the ESBLs-producing Escherichia coli were all less than 10.0%;the drug resistance of Escherichia coli isolates to Ampicillin,Quinolones,Gentamicin and TMP-SMZ were higher than 70%,and all were highly resistant to Ampicillin,Cephalosporins,Quinolones. Conclusion We should choose carbopenems,β-lactam/β-lactamase inhibitor combinations, etc,on the basis of microbial sensitivity.
