Abstract

Objective To investigate the relationship between the expression of intercellular adhesion molecule 1 (ICAM 1) and leukocyte infiltration and study the effects of mild to moderate hypothermia. Methods Using immunohistochemitry and HE staining to label ICAM 1 expression and leukocyte infiltration in MCAO in model rats. Results (1) ICAM 1 expression and leukocyte infiltration raised obviously and peaked at 24h (P 0.01 ) after the cerebral ischemic reperfusion and there was a positive correlation between them (P0.01).(2) Mild to moderate hypothermia could reduced the expression of ICAM 1 and leukocyte infiltration(P0.01). Conclusion ICAM 1 may t mediate leukocyte endothlium adhesion after cerebral ischemia reperfusion. Mild to moderate hypothermia can inhibite ICAM 1 expression and leukocyte infiltration.
