Abstract
Objective: To study the effect of acarbose and metformin to impaired glucose homeostasis patients include IGT and IFG and offer a more reasonable method to reduce potential diabetics. Methods:According to the WHO diagnostic criterion in 1999,69 IGH subjects were divided into three groups voluntarily from healthy education,15 cases in the diet-exercise group,28 cases in the metformin group and 26 cases in the acarbose group. The fasting plasma glucose(FPG),postprandial plasma glucose(2hPG),total cholesterol(TC) and total triglyceride(TG) were tested before and after interventive treatment in six months.Result:After six months, all indexes in the diet-exercise group decreased, but it is of no meaning of statistics. The FPG and 2hPG in the metformin group and acarbose group decreased remarkably(P0.01).There isn't obvious difference between the metformin group and acarbose group for FPG,the 2hPG acarbose group is better than the metfoumin group. The TC and TG in the metformin group and acarbose group decreased remarkably(P0.05).Conclusion:Base on diet and exercise, the IFG patients and IGT patients should choose metformin and acarbose respectively to prevent diabetes.
