Abstract

OBJECTIVE To investigate the distribution and drug resistance of urology in the hospital to provide bases for the rational use of antibiotics in clinics.METHODS The distribution, category and drug resistance of pathogenic bacteria isolated from patients from Jan 2008 to May 2010 were retrospectively analyzed.RESULTS A total of 855 pathogenic bacteria were isolated.Among them,580 isolates(67.8%) were Gram-negative pathogenic bacteria,253 isolates(29.6%) were Gram-positive bacteria, and 22 isolates(2.6%)were fungi. The most common Gram-negative bacteria were Escherichia coli(52.2% of the isolates) and the dominant Gram-positive pathogenic bacteria were Enterococci(19.9%).All of the fungi 22 isolates, were Candida. No Gram-positive cocci strains were resistant to vancomycin.Gram-negative bacilli were highly susceptible to imipenem.CONCLUSION There are various pathogens identified from urinary system, and the drug resistance rate is high. The clinicians should monitor the changes in pathogens and trends of drug resistance in time,in order to give the patients the correct antibiotic therapy and to control the nosocomial infection.
