Abstract

Objective To study the occasion and curative effect of facial nerve decompression in the treatment for facial nerve paralysis. Methods Facial nerve decompression was applied to 60 cases of severe facial nerve paralysis from 1990-2007 in our hospital.House-Brackmann(H﹠B)system was used for evaluating the recovery of facial nerve function.60 cases were divided into two groups:the cases of group A received surgical treatment within three months and group B three months after onset.Their effective rates were compared with χ2-test.Results The clinical effective rate of group A was significantly higher than that of group B(P0.05).Conclusion The application of facial nerve decompression at early stage of facial nerve paralysis can improve the clinical effective rate significantly.
