Abstract
Objective:To establish the suitable dosage of reserpine for animal model of depression, and to observe the different dosage of reserpine on locomotion activity in rats. Methods:Rats were randomly assigned into test group[intraperitoneally administrated by different dosage of reserpine(2、4、6 mg/kg)]and control group(injected the same volume of solvent). The locomotion activity was tested by open field test one hour after injection.Results:Reserpine(2、4、6 mg/kg)could cause depressive behavior,4 mg/kg group was different from that of 2 mg/kg group(P0.05),but there was no difference between 4 and 6 mg/kg groups. The behavior change lasted 48 ~ 72 hours. Conclusion:Reserpine may result in the depressive behavior of rat,4 mg/kg is the suitable dosage for animal model of depression.
