Abstract

Objective To explore the effects of perindopril on elderly patients with masked hypertension(MH). Methods Sixty-six patients with MH were divided into two groups.Thirty-six patients(treatment group) were treated with perindopril 2-4 mg/d and 30 patients were assigned to control group.ABPM was detected at baseline and 10.5 months later both in 2 groups. Results 24 h mean systolic blood pressure, mean daytime systolic blood pressure,24 h mean diastolic blood pressure, daytime pulse pressure, nighttime mean systolic blood pressure,24 h systolic blood pressure standard deviation,24 h systolic blood pressure coefficient of variance were significantly decereased(P0.05 or P0.01) in treatment group. Conclusions Perindopril could effectively decrease blood pressure, blood pressure variability and improve circadian rhythm in elderly patients with MH.
