Evaluation model and empirical analysis on the economic growth quality and efficiency of Jiangsu province

With the changing of the road of development,the quality and efficiency of economic growth have become a hot issue.Based on the connotation of economic growth quality and efficiency,combined with the economic condition of Jiangsu province,this paper establishes a comprehensive evaluation index system formed by seven secondary indices and sixteen three-level indicators.The principal component-cluster analysis and the improved grey relational analysis method are employed to analyze empirically the quality of economic development in Jiangsu province.The results show that the quality and effectiveness of the annual economic growth in Jiangsu province was getting better year by year during 2004—2009.Yet,the relatively low effectiveness existed in economic development poses great challenge for Jiangsu province,which must be addressed properly to ensure a sustainable and steady economy.
