Comparison of nickel-titanium patella concentrator and tension band in the treatment of patellar fracture

Abstract

Objective To compare the effects of nickel titanium patellar concentrator(NT-PC)and tension band in the treatment of patellar fracture.Methods NT-PC and tension band were used in the fixation of patellar fracture in 136 cases,and the results were evaluated according to XU Shao-ting's the knee joint function comprehensive evaluation criteria.Results All patients were followed up for 6～36 months.The excellent and good rates were 82.3% and 95.6% in tension band group(68 cases)and NT-PC group(68 cases),respectively.Two methods have significance difference(P0.05).Conclusions The NT-PC in the treatment of fracture of patellar is reliable with little soft tissue irritation.Functional exercise can be trained early,which ultimately restore the knee function.It is an ideal method at present.
