On Humanity in Concept of "Modernity" and Its Application to Artistic Study

Modernity is a term in humanity science corresponding to that in social science,referring not to the property of objective matter,but the property of the character of man and the outside object in the subject.Modernity is not a single property,but a conflict consisted of change,which excludes the idea that takes as a single value.There is great significance in applying modernity in humanity science such as artistic history.The application of modernity to modern and contemporary artistic history study neglects the fact that,first of all,it should be used as a neutral concept to the object.The conflict between modernity and modernization,especially where the property of art exists,must be paid great attention.The orientation to nativism and tradition form modernity-globalization is in fact the expression of modernity.The accidental and oriental argumentation since the late Qing dynasty takes the as the precondition of the living world.
