Abstract

Objective To determine the expression of E-cadherin/γ-catenin complex in colorectal carcinoma and investigate the relationship between E-cadherin/γ-catenin complex and the clinicopathologic features. Methods 60 cases of tissues were examined, and the clinical pathologic parameters was detected.Immunohistochemical dicho-step method was used to detect the E-cadherin/γ-catenin and to analyze their significance and the correlation between them. Results The expression rates of E-cadherin:normal colorectal tissues colorectal adenoma tissues colorectal carcinoma tissues. The expression rates of γ-catenin:normal colorectal tissues colorectal adenoma tissues and normal colorectal tissues colorectal carcinoma tissues. The expression level of E-cadherin was closely related with Dukes stage,metastasis(includ-ing lymphatic metastasis and distant place metastasis),depth of infiltration and differentiation. The expression level of γ-catenin was closely related with lymphatic metastasis and distant metastasis. The expression of the E-cadherin and γ-catenin both decreased in colorectal carcino-ma tissues, but the analysis of their correlation showed there was no statistic significance. Conclusion The expression level of E-cadherin is related to Dukes stage, metastasis(including lymphatic metastasis and distant metastasis),depth of infiltration, differentiation. And the expres-sion of γ-catenin is related to lymphatic metastasis and distant metastasis.Detecting their expression might be useful prognostic indicators and give a theoretical help in the therapy of colorectal carcinoma.
