Therapeutic effect of Pingchuan decoction combined with western medicine on acute attack of bronchial asthma in children

Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of Pingchuan decoction combined with western medicine on acute attack of bronchial asthma in children.Methods 70 children patients with bronchial asthma were randomly divided into 2 group: 40 cases in treatment group and 30 cases in control group. On the basis of routine western medicine for both groups, the patients in treatment group took Pingchuan decoction in addition; the patients in control group took mucosolvan (cyclohexanol hydrochloride),after a treatment course of 7 days,the efficacy was compared between the two groups.Results The total effective rate in treatment group was 97.5%, which was 90.0% in control group. There was a significant difference between two groups (P0.05).The improvement of symptoms in treatment group was superior to that in control group (P0.05). WBC and EOS were decreased significantly after treatment in both groups (P0.05),however,there was a significant difference in EOS between two groups (P0.05).Conclusion The combined treatment of traditional Chinese and western medicine on acute attack of bronchial asthma in children is superior to that of simple treatment with western medicine.
