Abstract

Obiective To explore the curative effect of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine(TCM-WM) on an acute attack of chronic pulmonry heart disease. Methods 120 patients with acute attack of chronic pulmonary heart disease were divided into two groups randomly. One group was treated by WM including inhaling low flow oxygen continuously, improving ventilation with antiasthmatics and expectorants, taking antibiotics and cardiac diuretics, correcting the electrolyte unbalance;the other group by TCM-WM, i. e. besides above-mentioned medication, drinking Siwu Tang (a decoction of prepared rehmannia root, white peony root, Chinese angelica root and chuanxiong rhizome)plus peach kernd to promote blood circulation and to remove blood stasis. Results The effective rate of the TCM-WM group reached 83. 3%, and was higher than that of the W M group(63. 4%) significantly (P4. 45). Conclusion This study has provided both method and experience in the treatment of chronic pulmonary heart disease with TCM -WM.
