Abstract

[Objective] To investigate the relationship between sperm acrosomal morphology and sperm motility, viability.[Methods] Human semen samples were collected from 123 male patients with infertility.Semen parameters were assessed by using CASA.Sperm viability and semen leukocytospermia concentration were detected respectively by means of eosin Y stain and benzidine stain.Sperm morphology and acrosomal morphology were evaluated after modified papanicolaou stain.[Results] The rate of intact acrosome in normal sperm viability group was significantly higher than that in abnormal sperm viability group(P 0.05).No significant differences were observed in the comparison between normal sperm motility group and abnormal sperm motility group(P 0.05).Compared with abnormal semen parameters group, the rate of intact acrosome was increased in normal semen parameters group(P 0.05).The rate of intact acrosome was positively correlated with the percentage of morphologically normal sperm and sperm viability(P 0.05,P 0.01),and negatively correlated with the semen leukocytospermia concentration(P 0.05).[Conclusion] Sperm acrosomal morphology can reflect the potential of male fertility to some extent and can be regarded as a good predictor for diagnosis of male infertility.
