SERUM LEVEL OF MYLIN BASIC PROTEIN IN HYPOXIC-ISCHEMIC ENCEPHALOPATHY NEONATES

Abstract

Objective To observe the serum level of mylin basic protein(MBP) in hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy(HIE) neonates.Methods Twenty-one full-term neonates clinically and radiologically diagnosed as having HIE were recruited as experimental group,and 21 healthy neonates served as controls.Venous blood was taken three days after birth.ELISA was employed to determine the serum level of MBP.Results The serum MBP in HIE neonates was significantly higher than that of healthy neonates(t'=5.905,P0.01).Conclusion Serum concentration of MBP in HIE newborns is high,it is helpful in the diagnosis and prediction of the prognosis of this condition.
