Cultural Origins of Leizhou Dialect and Minnan Dialect: From the Perspective of Pronunciation, Vocabulary, Grammar and Ancient Documents

Leizhou dialect and Minnan dialect showed a strong convergence of voice,vocabulary,grammar.The two have many linguistic phenomena that there is none,or far less common in other dialects.Min Dialect of Leizhou Peninsula was recorded in the ancient documents from the Tang and Song to the Ming Dynasty.It originated in Putian dialect that split off from the ancient southern Fujian dialect after the Song Dynasty.Therefore,Leizhou dialect and Minnan dialect have a common source,namely the ancient southern Fujian dialect.If the formation of the dialect is regarded as a cultural phenomenon,Leizhou dialect and Minnan dialect obviously have geographical and cultural characteristics of the same source.They share a common cultural source,namely the ancient southern Fujian culture.They have the common characteristics in the language elements that Leizhou culture inherited habitually from ancient southern Fujian culture in language.
