Basic characteristics of Longyan dialect

Abstract

Longyan dialect is the subdialect of Minnan dialect.In all quarters of Minnan dialect,the most basic characteristic of Longyan dialect lies in its more ancient ingredient and its blending with Hakkas dialect.Through the dialect research since Song Dynasty and the Gushi dialect example,it is proved that Longyan dialect retains the unique ancient Chinese pronunciation and words and shares certain same basic characteristics with Hakkas dialect.
