Abstract

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety in treating ventilator associated pneumonia with piperacillin/tazobactam. METHODS Thirty three patients with ventilator associated pneumonia were treated with piperacillin/tazobactam 4.5 g, iv drip q8h q12h for 7 14 d. RESULTS The total effective rate was 84.85%, the rate of bacteria clearance was 88.23%, side effect was less 3.03%. CONCLUSIONS Piperacillin/tazobactam appears to be an excellent agent for treatment of ventilator associated pneumonia.
