Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the active or toxicity constituents of Senecio laetus Edgew. METHODS The compounds were extracted with 90% EtOH and isolated and purified by means of chromatography. Compound were identified by their physical characteristics and spectral features. RESULTS Eleven compounds were isolated and identified as otosenine (1), senecionine (2), seneciphylline (3), isorhamnetin-3-O-β-D-galactoside (4), isorhamnetin (5), quercetin (6), fisetin (7), dictamnoside (8), 2-(4'-hydroxy-3', 5'-imethoxyphenyl)-3-propanediol (9), vanillic acid (10) and p-hydroxyphenylacetic acid (11). CONCLUSION Compound 9 was firstly obtained from natural plants, compound 7 and 8 were isolated from this genus for the first time.
