ON THE FIVE BASIC PROBLEMS AND CONCERNS ABOUT THE TRANSFORMATION AND DEVELOPMENT FOR LOCAL UNIVERSITIES

Our country is now striving to guide and promote the local universities to transform to application-oriented universities. But there are five basic problems:what are the reasons why our local universities need the transformation;what is the direction for the transformation and development;how and whether can our local universities achieve it;what is the result if our local universities take measures to achieve the transformation and development. In response to these basic problems,there are five basic concerns,including the lose of independence,the academic character,the autonomy,the humanity and the diversity.In the process of the transformation and development,if the five concerns can't been theoretically explained satisfactorily and can't been solved successfully,they will not only slow down the pace of transformation, but also jeopardize the success of the transformation and even the establishment of modern higher education system. But because of these concerns our local universities have some attitudes of standstill or deliberate rejection,the attitudes are not reasonable and scientific.
