Austin and Searle's Speech Act Theory and Their Related Linguistic Philosophy

Abstract

In the early 20th century,there is an essential linguistic turn in western traditional philosophy and language replaces epistemology to be the central philosophical issue.The publication of How to Do Things with Words in 1962 signifies the establishment of Speech Act Theory formally.Based on Austin's theory,Searle developed famous Indirect Speech Act Theory and enabled people to view language from a totally new perspective.
