Abstract

Objective:To evaluate the effects of super-selective hepatic artery embolization in the treatment of hepatic hemangioma.Methods:17 patients with hemangioma of liver were treated by superselective intra-arterial embolization with bleomycinum, lipiodol or gelfoam pieces. All of patients underwent NCECT 6 months?and 5 years later after treatment. Results:No recurence or significant complications occurred in this series. The size of the tumor was decreased?1-6 months later after treatment in all patients, and 9 patients were decreased more than 50%.16 patients were decreased significantly 5 years later after tretment, and the pathological changes were disappeared to 6 cases. Conclusion:The approach of transcatheter intra-arterial embolization and sclerosis with bleomycinum, lipiodol or gelfoam pieces is demonstrated as a safe, simple and effective method for hepatic hemangioma.
