Abstract

The Bullwhip effect is the result of lacking cooperation and coordination among partners in supply chain. This paper depicts the essence of bullwhip and analyzes the main reasons for resulting bullwhip. Based on an international company background, analyzes the influencing factors of bullwhip in manufacturing supply chain: (1) centralized and decentralized management model; (2) character of demand and supply; (3) product type and reorder point of inventory. Discusses some control approaches of bullwhip effect from the perspectives of buyer and supplier cooperation relationships.
